Training Programs for
Business, Police and other Groups

Please Note: These are formal training programs of up to six weeks in length. For one-time speakers, please go to our Speakers Bureau page.

American Sign Language for "Police"

WHO: These training programs are especially designed to help businesses, police departments, emergency workers, and other government agencies understand and to work better with the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Customized classes for your group or organization can be developed by request. Generally classes last for an hour or more and can run up to six weeks.

Our instructors are professionals such as audiologists, speech pathologists, and interpreters with experience in teaching.

WHERE: Our programs can be presented at our offices in Wilmington and in Kent County, or, for a reduced fee, at your location. In the past classes have been held libraries, community centers, senior centers, health care clinics or facilities, business locations, schools, churches, private agencies or organization offices.

FEES: A program of one one-hour class per week for six weeks at our location is $70 per pers and includes all materials. The fee falls to $60 per person if classes are held at your location.

  • Speechreading (lipreading)
  • Working With the Hearing Loss Community - Includes Emergency and Polcie Action Situations
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Work Place
  • Americans With disabilities Act Rights and Responsibilities - for both the individual and the employer
